Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) kickoff set for Thursday, Jan. 28

Jan 27, 2021

The Washoe County Health District is unveiling the 2021 Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) at a virtual event Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021, that the public is invited to attend.

Community members can RSVP here and will have the opportunity to learn more about the CHIP and its community’s health improvement goals. Breakout sessions will focus on the CHIP priorities of housing/homelessness, behavior health and fitness/nutrition.

“We know 2020 has been a challenging year,” said Kevin Dick, Washoe County District Health Officer. “While we respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s important that we also continue to focus on community collaboration to address critical public health needs and allow our residents to live healthy lives.”

The 2018-2020 CHIP was developed in response to the rankings of health needs within Washoe County based on a Community Health Needs Assessment and is the result of six months of planning. The Plan was developed after evaluating data and engaging with Truckee Meadows Healthy Communities and other organizations in the region to gain a better understanding of what the community sees as the top priorities to focus on for collaboration.

The 2021 CHIP continues the work of the 2018-2020 plan in the three focus areas, and reflects the collaboration and partnership seen across the Truckee Meadows in pursuit of better health. It provides an excellent foundation to align the efforts of the many community partners working together collectively to improve the health of our community.

The District Board of Health approved additional objectives and activities in the 2021 CHIP during its meeting in November.
