Washoe County Library System Announces Summer Reading Challenge 2021!

by | May 25, 2021

Washoe County Library System is excited to announce the community-wide Summer Reading Challenge! The program is focused on the development of literacy skills and preparing children for success by fostering those skills at an early age. This year’s Collaborative Summer Library Program theme is Tails and Tales.

As a mainstay of public library services, reading programs like the Summer Reading Challenge encourage communities to use the library and develop a lifelong habit of reading. The program is open to readers of all ages, with prizes available to participants ages 0-18.

In addition to offering existing services such as on-site browsing and computer use, plus access to digital content and online resources, the Library System has a host of exciting virtual events and interactive activities planned for the duration of the Summer Reading Challenge. Starting June 1, the first 1,600 youth who visit the library and sign up will receive a themed bag, an age-appropriate book, a reading log/bingo card, and craft supplies (as supplies last).

Patrons can sign up in person at any library branch or download the Beanstack app to get started at home. For more information about the Summer Reading Challenge please visit washoecountylibrary.us/summerreading.
