You Can’t Eat Freedom: Struggles for Social Justice After the Civil Rights Movement

Please join author Greta de Jong, Professor of African American History at the University of Nevada, Reno who will present You Can’t Eat Freedom: Struggles for Social Justice After the Civil Rights Movement at several Washoe County library locations.  Professor de Jong will discuss black activism that continued beyond the 1960’s in efforts to secure economic reforms aimed at creating jobs, improving social services, and enabling all citizens to lead lives of dignity and autonomy. The story of these efforts, and the opposition they encountered will also be discussed.
