Truckee Meadows Fire invites the public to attend an Open House and participate in Fire Prevention activities Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, from 10 a.m. to noon in recognition of Fire Prevention Week.
Reno, Nevada. Oct. 11, 2017. Imagine you and your family awaken to the smell of smoke and the beeping of smoke alarms. Does each member of your family know what to do? Join TMFPD in recognition of Fire Prevention Week and participate in fun activities that will prepare your family to escape a home fire with this year’s theme “Every Second Counts: Plan 2 Ways Out!”
TMFPD will host Fire Prevention Week Activities where attendees can meet Sparky the Fire Dog, enjoy a Fire Safety Obstacle Course, watch a Washoe County Sheriff K-9 Unit Demonstration, see Washoe County Sheriff’s RAVEN up close, experience Living With Fire’s Ember House, and tour the stations, engines, and other rescue equipment with TMFPD firefighters, while enjoying light refreshments. Residents will have the opportunity to take home free smoke alarms and to request a free ash can.
“The active wildfire season we experienced this summer and the devastation unfolding in California are stark reminders that we all need to develop a home escape plan, and practice it in the daytime and at night to ensure every member of the family knows two ways out of every room in any fire situation,” said Interim Fire Marshal Denise Reynolds.
The TMFPD Fire Prevention Bureau invites you and your family to join them in support of Fire Prevention Week, sponsored by the National Fire Protection Association. This is a fun opportunity for your family to meet Truckee Meadows firefighters and learn ways to prepare and practice a home escape plan and other fundamentals of home fire safety.
