Reno, Nev. April 5, 2018. The Washoe County Human Services Agency (HSA) is proud to support National Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month during April by placing thousands of blue pinwheels throughout the community. The pinwheels represent the joyful, carefree life every child deserves.
The media is invited to record video of the pinwheels being placed outside of Greater Nevada Field from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Friday, April 6, 2018. Interviews will be available on-site.
HSA opened investigations into 1,950 cases of child abuse and/or neglect during Fiscal Year 2017, which is why the Agency is asking the community to join in the effort to raise awareness by wearing blue clothing or a blue ribbon during the month of April.
“Although HSA works daily to protect children, it takes everyone to make sure Washoe County’s children are safe and secure,” said HSA Director Amber Howell. “We hope this month serves as a reminder to protect our children, raise awareness about child abuse and helps families in need of guidance, support, and recovery.”
