Washoe County Celebrates Older Americans Month

by | Apr 28, 2017

Reno, Nevada. April 28, 2017. May marks the beginning of Older Americans Month and Washoe County Senior Services is proud to host opening ceremonies at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 1, 2017 at the Washoe County Senior Services Center.
This year’s theme is “Age out loud,” bringing awareness to the way seniors are living their lives with boldness, confidence and passion while serving as an inspiration to people of all ages.

As part of opening ceremonies, Washoe County Senior Services will be hosting an information fair for seniors highlighting several programs and services available to them. With more than 40 local agencies participating, people can learn about ways to participate, volunteer and join in all the fun.
“We want our seniors to know they are an integral part of our community and will always be valued and cared for in Washoe County,” Washoe County Commission Chair Bob Lucey said. “Older Americans Month is an opportunity to honor our beloved seniors and show them the support and resources available to them.”
Washoe County Senior Services is teaming up with the cities of Reno and Sparks, AARP, the Alzheimer’s Association and many other agencies to organize more than 100 events for seniors throughout the month of May.
