Join Washoe County park rangers for Fall Photo Hikes this fall

by | Oct 14, 2015

Reno, Nevada. Oct. 14, 2015. If you enjoy hiking scenic trails, and love to take nature photography, then you will not want to miss the “Fall Photo Hikes” series.
Join Washoe County Park Rangers as we explore some of our area’s most scenic trails. This series is meant to provide amateur photographers and hiking enthusiasts alike with the opportunity to capture their own spectacular fall photography. If this sounds like fun, then bring a jacket, a sturdy pair of hiking boots, a bottle of water, and of course your favorite camera. The hikes will take between 1-3 hours, weather permitting. Pets should be left at home, as they will not be allowed on the hikes.
The Fall Photo Hikes series starts on Friday, Oct. 16, at the Thomas Creek Trailhead at the end of Timberline Road at 3 p.m. The following Friday, Oct. 23, the hike will begin at the Michael D. Thompson Trailhead on Woodchuck Circle at 3 p.m. On Friday, Oct. 30 at 4 p.m., we’ll embark from the Historic Huffaker School to explore the Ranch Loop Trail at Bartley Ranch Regional Park. The final hike will take place on Friday, Nov. 6, along the scenic Nature Trail at Crystal Peak Park off of Old Hwy 40 in Verdi at 4 p.m.
The “Sierra-Nevada Autumn” Photo Exhibit in the Western Heritage Interpretive Center is another great reason to come to Bartley Ranch Regional Park in October! It will be open Oct. 1-31, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibit will feature photos presented by local photographers expressing their favorite views of Nevada and the Sierras. Visitors will be asked to vote for “People’s Choice,” and all participating photographers will be asked to vote for “Artist’s Choice.”
To RSVP for the hikes, please call 775-828-6612 or email abrown@washoecounty.us. Any changes in the schedule will be posted on the Washoe County Regional Parks and Open Space Facebook page.
