A conversation about aging in Washoe County

by | Mar 7, 2015

We all pay to care for the elderly, and most of us need care as we age. Our society is aging faster than ever before. It’s estimated that by 2030, more than 130,000 Washoe County citizens will be over the age of 60.
Washoe County Assistant Manager Kevin Schiller and Director of Washoe County Senior Services Grady Tarbutton appeared on KNPB’s program “A Conversation With” hosted by Brent Boynton, to highlight the County’s new Master Plan for Aging Services. In this program, Schiller and Tarbutton discuss how the Master Plan addresses the pending silver tsunami by providing good nutrition, a cost-effective alternative to nursing home care, and a resource center as a place for seniors to receive information about County services.
Watch the TV program in its entirety to learn more about how Washoe County is preparing to help support several of our most vulnerable citizens.
