Statement from Chair Bob Lucey

We are heartbroken to say goodbye to Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell this morning. He served his country, his state and his city, and was the embodiment of a public servant. We send his wife, Susan, his four children, and two grandchildren our deepest condolences and our most sincere thanks for sharing such a great man with us.I had the great honor of working with him on the Nevada Association of Counties, and I will always admire his staunch support of our indigent populations and his dedication to the entire community.”Mayor Bob,” as he was affectionately called, loved the community that he served for over two decades, the last 12 as mayor. He was especially dedicated to the children of Carson City, serving for 11 years on the Carson City School Board of Trustees and serving twice as school board president. Halloween trick-or-treaters knew they’d get a heaping handful of candy from his house at Halloween, where he greeted friends young and old.As a Vietnam veteran, he showed bravery, determination, and leadership that he would carry into public service until his passing this morning. We offer our gratitude for his service and thoughts of peace for his family.Sincerely,Chair Bob LuceyWashoe County Board of Commissioners
