Will You Be the One?

by | Feb 19, 2021

We all need someone to help, share, play, hold and care. Will you be the one? The Washoe County Human Services Agency (HSA) is asking the community to be the one and foster a teen today.

On average, there are more than 150 teenagers in the Washoe County Foster Care System. In an effort to find foster parents for teens, HSA is releasing various public service announcement videos, which will air on television, radio, and several social media platforms throughout the year. The dynamic videos feature current foster parents and teens, discussing the various ways they both have benefited from fostering. Parents know the relationship with their children is reciprocal. Quite often children reward us and teach us more than we ever do them.

“These foster children are incredible people who have so much love to offer. Our videos are unique in that we tried to capture those special, aha moments between foster child and parent.” said HSA Community Outreach Coordinator Chris Ciarlo. “Every foster family has a story tell, a special memory to share. We show those real-life moments between these incredible families in our videos. Our goal is to tell their stories and reveal the beauty of fostering. There is a special bond that can only be created when someone answers the call and decides to be the one.”
